Shymkent (Kazakhstan), Aug 20 (NationPress) The talented Indian pair, Saurabh Chaudhary and the emerging star Suruchi Inder Singh, secured the bronze medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event by defeating the team from Chinese Taipei at the Asian Shooting Championships on Wednesday.
The Indian duo triumphed over the Taipei competitors, Liu Heng-Yu and Hsieh Hsiang-Chen, with a score of 17-9. The bronze medal was also claimed by Iran’s Haniyeh Rostamiyan and Vahid Golkhandan after they overcame Thuy Trang Nguyen and Cong Minh Lai from Vietnam. South Korea clinched the gold against China.
In the qualification round, the Indian team recorded a total of 578, with Suruchi contributing 292 and Saurabh achieving 286, which positioned them fifth entering the eight-team medal round.
This bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed team event boosts India’s overall medal count in the senior category at the Asian Shooting Championship 2025 to four. Earlier in the week, Anmol Jain, Saurabh Chaudhary, and Aditya Malra won silver in the men’s 10m air pistol team event. Additionally, Manu Bhaker, a double Olympic medallist, emerged victorious in the women's 10m air pistol competition on Tuesday.
Manu (583) also secured a team bronze in the women’s air pistol event alongside current Asian Games champion Palak (573) and Suruchi Phogat (574), both of whom narrowly missed the individual final by three and two points, respectively.
