New Delhi, Oct 13 (NationPress) The Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer VinFast announced on Monday that it has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first car brand in the country to surpass 1 lakh domestic vehicle sales within the initial three quarters of a year, as it enhances its footprint in India.
The company reported sales of 13,914 electric vehicles in September 2025, bringing the total for the year to 1,03,884 units, establishing a record in the nation's automotive industry.
This achievement follows 11 consecutive months as the top-selling carmaker in the country, according to a company release.
As part of its ambitious plans in the Indian market, the Vietnamese EV giant inaugurated its assembly plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, initiating a phased investment of up to Rs 16,000 crore. In its first phase, the facility can assemble 50,000 SUVs from its two premium electric models—the VF 6 and VF 7.
With three peak months of Q4 still ahead and production capacity increasing at its Hai Phong and Ha Tinh manufacturing complexes, the company is poised to achieve even greater records by the end of 2025.
"We are immensely thankful for our customers' trust and are committed to delivering enhanced value, accelerating Vietnam’s green transition," remarked Duong Thi Thu Trang, Global Deputy CEO of Sales and Marketing at VinFast.
The VF 3, recognized as Vietnam’s “national electric car,” led sales with 31,386 units sold in the first three quarters. The VF 5 closely followed with 30,956 units, which includes 8,604 fleet-oriented Herio Green variants.
In third place, the VF 6 reached 14,425 units since the start of the year, with 1,933 delivered in September, according to the report.
The Limo Green, VinFast’s seven-seater MPV designed for ride-hailing and premium transport services, saw a strong surge in September, securing its position at the top of its segment with 2,120 deliveries.
VinFast opened its inaugural showroom in India at Gujarat's Surat on July 25, 2025, featuring its electric SUV variants VF 6 and VF 7. The company plans to establish 35 dealerships across over 27 cities in the country by year-end.
In August, the company also inaugurated its assembly plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, which will see a phased investment of up to Rs 16,000 crore.
