In an announcement made on Thursday, the PCB stated that the renovation and enhancement of the venue has been successfully completed in a remarkable timeframe of 117 days, making it ready for international matches, including the prestigious ICC Champions Trophy.
The revamped stadium boasts brighter LED lights, two larger score screens, and comfortable imported seating throughout all enclosures, promising an unmatched viewing experience for cricket enthusiasts.
“First and foremost, I extend my gratitude to the workers who accomplished this Herculean task. The collaborative efforts of Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), NESPAK, the contractors, and PCB teams have transformed this vision into a reality.
“Our venues now meet international standards, and we take pride in providing cricket fans with the finest experience possible. The rapid transformation of this stadium showcases the hard work and commitment of our entire team,” stated PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
The inauguration ceremony at Gaddafi Stadium, officiated by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday, will feature fireworks, a captivating light show, and performances by renowned artists such as Ali Zafar, Arif Lohar, and Aima Baig, alongside a spectacular drum and firework display.
The PCB also noted that Chairman Naqvi has been actively involved in overseeing the reconstruction process, making regular visits to monitor progress. “His commitment has led to the establishment of world-class facilities, including newly constructed hospitality boxes and enhanced amenities for both players and spectators,” it added.
In addition to Lahore, the National Stadium in Karachi and the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium are also undergoing preparations after upgrade work to host matches for the 2025 Champions Trophy, which will commence on February 19.
It should be noted that the venues will be formally handed over to the ICC on February 12.
