Ahmedabad, Nov 15 (NationPress) The official jersey for the 9th Adani Ahmedabad Marathon was unveiled at Palladium Mall this Saturday, captivating fitness enthusiasts and local runners alike. The reveal featured an eye-catching design made from 15,000 recycled plastic bottle caps, representing a harmonious mix of creativity, sustainability, and patriotism – a tribute to our national tricolour.
In a groundbreaking initiative, Aaquib Wani collaborated with Adani Sportsline to invite community members to contribute their designs, aiming to blend local perspectives with his narrative-driven design philosophy. The result is a vibrant piece that underscores the marathon’s key cause, #Run4OurSoldiers, while embodying the cultural spirit of Ahmedabad.
Sanjay Adesara, Chief Business Officer of Adani Sportsline, remarked, “With the launch of the official jersey for the 9th Adani Ahmedabad Marathon, we celebrate a significant achievement. I wish to extend my thanks to Aaquib Wani for his collaborative efforts with our community. The design elegantly encapsulates the marathon’s expanding legacy and the city’s creative pulse.”
The Adani Ahmedabad Marathon is recognized on the AIMS Global Marathon Event List and continues to promote its social mission of honoring India’s armed forces.
This year, the run is set to commence at the Sabarmati Riverfront Sports Park, featuring routes that traverse key landmarks in Ahmedabad, including Atal Bridge, Gandhi Ashram, and Ellis Bridge. Scheduled for November 30, the event offers four categories: Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10 km, and 5 km runs.
The marathon, organized by the Adani Group, symbolizes support for India’s courageous armed forces. It debuted in November 2017 and held its fifth edition in November 2021. Runners cherish it for its breathtaking route, regarded as one of the most beautiful globally.
Initially, the races attracted nearly 20,000 participants in their first two editions, but attendance dipped below that in the third and fourth editions, with over 17,000 participants. After the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ahmedabad Marathon became the first to host a physical event by implementing time-slot systems, enabling over 8,000 runners to participate over two days in 2021 while adhering to COVID-19 safety protocols.
In 2022, the Ahmedabad Marathon was included in the “Global Marathon Event List - AIMS World Running”, making it the only race in Ahmedabad featured on this prestigious international list. By 2024, more than 20,000 participants had taken part in the #Run4OurSoldiers event, demonstrating support for our armed forces.
The #Run4OurSoldiers campaign stands out as a highlight of the event, providing a special opportunity for participants to pay tribute to our soldiers. Last year, over 3,000 defence personnel joined the run, with most of the proceeds dedicated to enhancing the welfare of the armed forces.
