Despite never finishing in the top-10 in her previous 34 Major appearances, Aditi has played exceptionally well, scoring 67-69 at the Par-71 Evian Resort Golf Club this week. She is currently four shots behind the leader, Somi Lee from South Korea, who is at 10-under par with rounds of 67-65.
Aditi began her round from the tenth tee, notching two birdies and one bogey on each side. Her birdies came on the 11th, 17th, second, and seventh holes, while she dropped shots on the 14th and sixth.
Her best Major finish occurred at the 2024 Evian when she tied for 17th. This marks her 19th cut made in 35 Major starts, the highest among Indian golfers, both male and female. While men compete in four Majors annually, women play five.
This week, Aditi is the sole Indian competitor as Diksha Dagar narrowly missed qualifying but is set to participate in the upcoming AIG Women’s Open later this month.
Somi Lee leads the tournament after making an eagle on the 9th hole and securing six birdies overall, achieving the best round of the day at the Evian Resort Golf Club.
Lee recently triumphed at the Dow Championship, sinking an eight-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole to win alongside fellow South Korean Jin Hee Im.
Australian Grace Kim is just one shot off the lead, scoring a solid 68 with four birdies to remain in strong contention. She started her round at 7 am and took full advantage of the calm morning conditions.
American Jennifer Kupcho recorded a steady 69, advancing to eight-under-par and positioning herself well as the tournament heads into the weekend at The Amundi Evian Championship.
Five players are just one shot behind, all at six-under par after the second round: Ireland’s Leona Maguire, Thailand’s Jeeno Thitikul, Japan’s Rio Takeda, India’s Aditi Ashok, and Australia’s Gabriela Ruffels.
After two rounds at the Evian Resort Golf Club, 74 players made the cut, which fell at two-over par.
