London, Aug 10 (NationPress) Diksha Dagar navigated a challenging back nine to finish with an even par 73 during the second round of the PIF London Championship at Centurion Club. Following a series of Top-10 finishes this season, she is currently Tied-13th, having been Tied-10th after the first round.
Among the four Indian women participating this week, three successfully made the cut. The others were Pranavi Urs and Aditi Ashok.
Pranavi (75-71) finished the two days at even par at the Par-73 Centurion Club, placing her Tied-28th. Aditi Ashok (73-74) ended up T-37 at 1-over for the two rounds. Rookie Avani Prashanth (76-76) unfortunately missed the cut, which fell at +3, allowing 65 players to advance to the final day at Centurion Club.
Diksha made birdies on the first and sixth holes but had a bogey on the third, turning in at 1-under. On the back nine, she lost a shot on the 10th and suffered a double bogey on the Par-4 12th. However, the determined golfer, aiming for her National title, the Women’s Indian Open, rebounded with birdies on the 13th and 16th to conclude at even par 73.
In the Individual competition, Germany’s Laura Funfstuck shot a 70 (-3) on the second day, securing a three-shot lead heading into the final day. She began with a birdie at the first hole and scored three birdies in four holes on the sixth, eighth, and ninth.
Although she dropped a shot on the 15th, a remarkable par-save on the 16th followed, before another dropped shot on the 17th. She finished strong with a birdie on the final hole, reaching nine-under-par.
Four players share second place, with Spain’s Carlota Ciganda, Belgium’s Manon De Roey, France’s Perrine Delacour, and South Africa’s Casandra Alexander all at six-under-par.
England’s Cara Gainer and Switzerland’s Chiara Tamburlini are tied for sixth at five-under-par, while five players are just one shot behind them in T8.
Team Du Toit clinched a one-stroke victory with a total of 29-under-par at the PIF London Championship held at Centurion Club.
Diksha, part of Team Nadaud, finished seventh, while Avani Prashanth played for Team Briem, also tied for seventh. Aditi led a team that included Pranavi, finishing in 21st.
The group comprising Danielle Du Toit, Sarah Kemp, Marta Sanz Barrio, and Megan Dennis commenced the day tied for 11th at 13-under-par.
Starting on the 10th tee, they quickly began to score, going 10-under for the day by the turn, thanks to eagles from Du Toit and Sanz Barrio.
While the back nine saw a steadier pace, they remained competitive, with Du Toit and Dennis sinking putts at the last to ascend the leaderboard and secure victory.
This was a remarkable comeback for South Africa’s Du Toit, who had played on the LET Access Series earlier in the week before withdrawing to fly to London as the first reserve.
After Charley Hull withdrew due to injury, Du Toit stepped in and ultimately captained her team to victory.
