Adryelson, the Brazilian Defender, Returns to Lyon; Vasco da Gama Interested in David Luiz

In Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), on December 23, NationPress reported that Brazilian defender Adryelson has made his way back to Lyon after completing a four-month loan stint at Botafogo, as confirmed by the Brazilian Serie A team. Adryelson returned to Botafogo in September, eight months after departing the Rio de Janeiro side to sign with Lyon. Notably, both Lyon and Botafogo are under the ownership of American entrepreneur John Textor.

During his recent tenure with Botafogo, Adryelson participated in 11 matches and played a key role in securing the Copa Libertadores title, alongside the Brazilian Serie A championship, according to reports from Xinhua.

Botafogo praised Adryelson in a social media announcement, stating, 'You returned to Botafogo as a man with a purpose, and you have left your mark in our history. We are extremely proud of you.'

In his time at Lyon, Adryelson featured in only four first-team matches over eight months before heading back to Botafogo.

Meanwhile, in another development, former Brazil international defender David Luiz is a potential target for Vasco da Gama following his recent release from Rio de Janeiro rivals Flamengo, as per media reports from South America. Vasco is eager to strengthen its defense in the off-season, with Luiz being a top priority for the club under new manager Fabio Carille, according to Globoesporte.

Reports also indicate that the 37-year-old defender has received interest from other clubs both within Brazil and internationally.

Luiz has made a total of 132 appearances for Flamengo across various competitions since joining from Arsenal in September 2021. The former players of Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain faced a challenging 2024 season, marked by injuries and inconsistent performances, limiting him to just 23 league games out of a possible 38.
