Bournemouth, June 16 (NationPress) AFC Bournemouth has officially confirmed the acquisition of French left-back Adrien Truffert from Rennes. The Belgian-born defender has signed a five-year contract with the Cherries, moving from the Ligue 1 club.
The 23-year-old has consistently been a vital part of Rennes’ first team since his debut in 2020, having previously spent two years with the B team and securing victories in both the U17 and U19 French Championships during his youth.
After an impressive 2025 season, Bournemouth is bringing in this talented left-back as a primary replacement for Milos Kerkez, who is reportedly set to transfer to Liverpool.
“I’m extremely pleased and honored to join AFC Bournemouth. This represents a significant opportunity for me to continue my development and be part of an ambitious project. I sensed the club’s confidence in me right from our initial conversations, and I’m eager to begin,” said Truffert.
“Competing in the Premier League is a dream for any player. It’s considered one of the top and most competitive leagues globally. I’m excited to challenge myself at this level, facing elite players each week, and contributing to the team’s success,” he added on the club's website.
Truffert was appointed captain of Rennes last year and reached the milestone of 150 Ligue 1 appearances against Marseille in May.
He has also represented France at various international levels, from U18 to the senior team, and earned a silver medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Following Truffert's signing, Tiago Pinto, the President of Football Operations, remarked: “We’re excited to welcome such a remarkable talent to the club early in the transfer window. Adrien is a player we have admired for a while, and despite being only 23, he brings considerable experience to our squad.”
“We look forward to collaborating with Adrien and are thrilled to have a player of his caliber join us as we aim to build on last season’s record-breaking achievements,” he stated.
Truffert will join Andoni Iraola’s squad when they commence pre-season training ahead of the 2025/26 season.
