Nepal all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee and Bangladesh pair Taijul Islam and Mushfiqur Rahim have been shortlisted for the ICC Men's Player of the Month award for May, the International Cricket Council announced on 10 June. All three earned their nominations on the back of match-winning contributions for their respective sides during the month.

Airee's All-Round Dominance in World Cup League 2

Dipendra Singh Airee staked his claim through a standout run in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 in Kirtipur. The Nepal all-rounder opened his campaign with a century against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and went on to accumulate 249 runs across six ODIs at an average of 49.80 and a strike-rate of 110.66. With the ball, he claimed eight wickets at an economy of 4.52, with his best figures of 4 for 24 coming against the United States.

Taijul's Historic Series Haul Against Pakistan

Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam was the standout performer in Bangladesh's 2-0 home Test series whitewash over Pakistan — a historic result for the hosts. Taijul finished as the series' highest wicket-taker with 13 wickets in two matches at an average of 19.61. His most telling spell was a 6 for 120 in Pakistan's second innings of the second Test in Sylhet.

Mushfiqur's Match-Defining Batting

Mushfiqur Rahim, who was named Player of the Series in the Tests against Pakistan, earned his nomination after scoring 235 runs across two Tests at an average of 63.25. His innings included a 71 in the first innings of the first Test and a match-defining 137 in the second innings of the second Test, contributions that proved pivotal to Bangladesh's series victory.

Women's Nominees: Bell, Feroza, and Green

On the women's side, England seamer Lauren Bell, Pakistan opener Gull Feroza, and New Zealand batter Maddy Green are in contention for the ICC Women's Player of the Month for May.

Lauren Bell was England's leading wicket-taker in their ODI series against New Zealand, claiming five wickets in three games, before adding eight more wickets across four T20 Internationals against New Zealand and India ahead of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup.

Gull Feroza was named Player of the Series in Pakistan's 3-0 ODI whitewash over Zimbabwe in Karachi, scoring 256 runs — including scores of 50, 100, and 106 not out — at an average of 128 and a strike-rate of 103.64. She also contributed 82 runs in the T20I series, including a 75 off 47 balls at a strike-rate of 157.69.

Maddy Green scored 125 runs in three ODIs at a strike-rate of 83.33 against England, highlighted by an 88 at Chester-le-Street, and added 93 runs in three T20Is, including a 56 not out in the second match. Voting for both awards is now open to the public.
