Aizawl, March 23 (NationPress) The much-awaited Aizawl derby will see local adversaries Aizawl FC and Chanmari FC clash in the Indian Football League (IFL) 2025-26 at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Aizawl on Tuesday.

Aizawl FC aims to recover from a disappointing 0-2 defeat against the formidable Diamond Harbour FC. Under the stewardship of head coach R. Lalruatfela, the People's Club demonstrated strong defensive tactics in the first half of their last match. However, a lapse in defense during the second half led to the conceding of the first goal.

In light of this loss, Lalruatfela reflected, "The main takeaway from that game is the inexperience of my defenders. This isn’t solely due to the players’ mistakes but also my decisions. Such errors should not occur, especially at this competitive level."

Emphasizing the importance of adaptability during matches, he added, "The game is unpredictable. Sometimes you control the ball, and other times you don’t. When facing opponents, game management must stem from the team itself. Experience is crucial."

Currently positioned fifth with five points, Aizawl has faced a frustrating decline recently. "We started the season strongly, but in our last few matches, we’ve only secured one point from six. This is unacceptable, and I am dissatisfied with our performance," Lalruatfela stated.

Desiring an immediate shift in momentum, the head coach is prioritizing results over aesthetics: "In senior football, the outcome is paramount. Regardless of our playing style, winning is the ultimate goal."

Player Eric Rempuia echoed this sentiment, showcasing the squad's enhanced preparation and unity. "Our chemistry improves daily, both on and off the pitch," Rempuia remarked.
