Liverpool, April 18 (NationPress) Trent Alexander-Arnold is approaching a full recovery and could be included in the Liverpool squad for their match against Leicester City this weekend. The Reds' right-back has been out of action since he suffered an injury during the Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield on March 11.

However, Alexander-Arnold is set to resume team training on Friday and might be prepared to occupy a spot on the bench at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.

When questioned about the right-back's availability, head coach Arne Slot mentioned that while he isn’t prepared to start, if his training sessions go well, Arnold could make it to the bench.

Trent is recovering from an injury; he trained with us yesterday and each time he participates in training, he showcases his dedication. He has put in tremendous effort to return, and when he’s on the field, he demonstrates what a talented player he is and how integral he is to our goals this season.

“(He is) not (ready) to start but if things go well today and tomorrow, he might – might – be on the bench. However, he definitely isn’t ready to start as he has been out for five-and-a-half weeks, and today is likely his first session back with the team,” Slot stated in the press conference.

Liverpool needs another six points from the 18 available in their remaining six Premier League matches to secure their second Premier League title and a total of 20 league titles.

This would result in 82 points, putting them out of reach of their closest competitors, Arsenal, as even if the Gunners win all their remaining matches, they can only reach 81 points.

However, the Reds might clinch the trophy as soon as this weekend, provided Arsenal loses their next match against Ipswich Town on Sunday. If Liverpool triumphs over Leicester later that day, they would accumulate 79 points, while Arsenal would remain at 63 points and could only finish with a maximum of 78 points, with five matches and 15 points left to play for.

When asked about his thoughts on the title, Slot expressed that he isn’t focused on the trophy and prefers to take it one match at a time.

“The honest answer is no. I’m not sure you believe me, but that is the honest answer. My entire life, I live in the moment, and I don’t dwell much on the past or look too far ahead because that’s just not who I am. I don’t constantly reflect on what I have accomplished at previous clubs.

“It’s also challenging in football; people often advise you to enjoy the journey, but as a manager, all you think about is, ‘There’s a game coming up this weekend that we need to win, and then the next one, and the one after that.’ Perhaps that’s one reason why, having been in football for so long, I’ve grown accustomed to living day by day and striving to make an impact each day,” he added.
