New Delhi, March 21 (NationPress) Goalkeeper Alisson Becker has left the Brazil national team and is heading back to Liverpool after experiencing a concussion. The goalkeeper had to exit during the second half of his country's World Cup qualifier against Colombia early Friday due to a collision.

Alisson is making his way back to Merseyside and will be evaluated by the Reds' medical team.

"The initial step involves conducting the necessary tests and evaluations to monitor the player over the next few days, as is standard protocol. Alisson is doing well. I think you saw the images of him on the bench and after the match. He is completely fine now, with no complaints.

"While receiving treatment on the field, he did not report any fainting or memory loss; he remained conscious and oriented throughout. We made the substitution because he expressed minor concerns, indicating he felt slightly slower and there was a potential concussion risk. In such situations, the recommendation is to substitute the player," stated Brazil's doctor Rodrigo Lasmar, as reported by ESPN.

On Wednesday, March 26, Brazil will compete against Argentina in their last match of the ongoing international break. Vinicius Junior’s last-minute goal enabled Brazil to secure a victory over Colombia, placing them second in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with 21 points. Raphinha opened the scoring from the penalty spot, and although the Colombians equalized in the first half, Vinícius Junior clinched the win with a goal during injury time of the second half, showcasing an impressive individual effort.

Liverpool currently sits at the top of the Premier League, but a difficult stretch of performance led to their exit from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Paris Saint Germain in the Round of 16, and a disappointing result at Wembley where they lost to Newcastle United in the final of the Carabao Cup.
