Key Takeaways
Hobart, Mar 1 (NationPress) As Australia’s captain, Alyssa Healy, took to the pitch for her last ever ODI match against India, the Women in Blue honored her with a guard of honour at the Bellerive Oval on Sunday.
In her farewell performance, the retiring wicketkeeper-batter made a remarkable mark, scoring a stunning century with 158 runs off just 98 balls before Sneh Rana ended her impressive innings in the 37th over.
The BCCI Women shared images of this heartfelt tribute on social media, showcasing Harmanpreet Kaur, who has had a fierce rivalry with the Australian star, shaking hands with the 35-year-old as she made her way to the pitch.
"Before play commenced today, Team India formed a guard of honour for Alyssa Healy, the captain of Australia, who is playing her final ODI match," the BCCI Women posted on social media.
Earlier this year, Healy announced her retirement from international cricket after completing the home series against India. She has been leading Australia on a multi-format tour, which includes three ODIs, three T20Is, and a one-off Test match, concluding her illustrious career in front of her home crowd.
Throughout her career, she amassed 489 runs in 10 Tests, 3619 runs in 123 ODIs, and 3054 runs in 162 T20Is. In December 2023, she was appointed as Australia's full-time captain, succeeding Meg Lanning.
Healy will retire holding the record for the most dismissals as a wicketkeeper in women’s international cricket, with a total of 269 dismissals across all formats (24 in 10 Tests, 119 in 123 ODIs, and 126 in 162 T20Is). She is also among the top all-format run-scorers, with her 7,106 runs ranking only behind Meg Lanning (8,352) and Ellyse Perry (7,607) among Australian women.
