New Delhi, Nov 11 (NationPress) Current women’s national champion Anahat Singh kicked off her journey at the China Open PSA tournament in Shanghai with a remarkable victory on Tuesday, while her fellow countrymen Velavan Senthilkumar and Abhay Singh faced defeats in the men's first round.
The talented teenager from Delhi, who holds the 38th position globally, triumphed over Egypt’s Menna Hamed with scores of 11-6, 11-8, and 11-3 in the Round-of-32 of this prestigious PSA Gold event. Next, she will face the eighth seed from Egypt and current world No. 15 Sana Ibrahim.
In contrast, Abhay was defeated by French player Baptiste Masotti, ranked 17th in the world, with scores of 11-8, 11-7, and 11-4. Meanwhile, Senthilkumar lost to the higher-ranked Egyptian Mohamed Abouelghar with scores of 8-11, 12-14, and 6-11.
