Trivandrum, May 17 (NationPress) Odisha’s talented sprinter Animesh Kujur showcased his dominance in the men’s 100m and 200m categories during the Indian Grand Prix 2 at LNCPE Campus in Trivandrum on Saturday. The 21-year-old, who holds the national record in the men’s 200m, proved to be the fastest athlete in the one-day event. He clocked an impressive 10.31 seconds in the 100m and 20.55 seconds in the 200m.

Animesh previously set a national record of 20.40 seconds in the men’s 200m at the Federation Cup last month, followed closely by Vishal TK (21.06s) and Ragul Kumar G (21.10s).

His best times this season include 10.27 seconds in the 100m and 20.40 seconds in the 200m, recorded in April in Kochi. Following Animesh on the podium in the 100m were Lalu Prasad Bhoi (10.565s) and Dondapati Mrutyam Ja (10.569s).

In the women’s events, Olympians Vithya Ramraj and Rajesh Ramesh triumphed in the 400m hurdles and men’s 400m races, respectively.

Vithya Ramraj equaled PT Usha’s national record of 55.42 seconds in the women's 400m hurdles at the Asian Games 2023, winning in 57.45 seconds.
