Arne Slot Playfully Comments on Manchester City's Premier League Prospects Amid 115 Allegations

Liverpool, Dec 3 (NationPress) In response to Mohamed Salah's statements following Liverpool's 2-0 triumph against Manchester City on Sunday, where the Egyptian forward indicated this could potentially be his last match against the current champions, head coach Arne Slot made a light-hearted remark regarding the 115 allegations looming over City, hinting that the club might not be part of the league next year.
"Perhaps Mo possesses insider knowledge about the 115 allegations that could prevent (Man City) from being in the Premier League next season, which is why he anticipates they won't be competing next year," Slot quipped.
The Dutch manager emphasized that his comments were made in jest regarding the ongoing situation.
"The tedious answer is always the same. This isn't the appropriate venue for me to discuss Salah's contract, and perhaps I've already said too much about the joke I just made. That will likely make the headlines. It was a joke. I reiterate, it was a joke," he stated.
The case against City is projected to conclude in January 2025 and could result in the club facing relegation if found guilty of breaching regulations. The alleged violations include failing to submit precise financial information for nine seasons, not disclosing details regarding former manager Roberto Mancini's compensation during his tenure from 2009 to 2013, uncooperative behavior during investigations, and not providing necessary documents over five seasons from 2018-19 to 2022-23, along with failing to reveal compensation details for former players, including Yaya Toure, during six seasons from 2010 to 2015-16.
Salah's contract, which expires at season's end, has been a subject of much discussion lately. Despite his impressive performances, he has yet to engage in contract negotiations with the club, suggesting he might depart from the Merseyside team after this season.
"Honestly, it's on my mind. Up until now, this is the last match against City I will play for Liverpool, so I intended to savor it. The atmosphere was incredible, and I will cherish every moment here. Hopefully, we can win the league and see what unfolds," Salah expressed to Sky Sports following the game against Manchester City.
