Liverpool's Arne Slot: Leading the PL & UCL Tables Is Not Exceptional

Liverpool, Dec 3 (NationPress) The team is relishing their position at the pinnacle of both the UEFA Champions League and Premier League (PL) standings. Despite boasting a nine-point advantage in the PL, head coach Arne Slot has asserted that their commencement to the season ‘is not exceptional’ and that they must remain at their best in the upcoming months.

"I believe it is significant. It's also part of the culture of this club. For us, being at the top of the league or leading in the Champions League setup isn’t particularly unique, although it does feel special considering we haven't experienced it before. Typically, we face different groups in the Champions League.

"This club, this team, these players are accustomed to being at the forefront of the league or competing for every title, which is advantageous. Their experience is invaluable as they have contended for an extended period, yet they have fallen short previously and couldn’t clinch the title.

"They are well aware of how to secure the league against clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal, and City, as I currently view those three as our primary rivals. They all understand that for nine to ten months, we must excel," stated Slot during a press conference on Tuesday.

The impressive start under Arne Slot has resulted in 18 victories, one draw, and only one defeat this season, positioning them at the top of both the Premier League and Champions League tables. Their domestic lead was augmented to nine points following a win against City, secured by Gakpo's early goal and a late penalty from Mohamed Salah.

Arsenal and Chelsea have ascended to second and third place, respectively, with Brighton also moving into fourth after Manchester City’s recent winless streak has dropped them to fifth in the standings.

Liverpool aims to conclude an exceptionally challenging series of fixtures, having defeated Real Madrid and Manchester City, with a victory against Newcastle United at St James Park on Thursday (IST).
