Kolkata, Jan 22 (NationPress) The left-arm fast-bowler Arshdeep Singh has emerged as India’s leading wicket-taker in men’s T20Is, a significant achievement he accomplished during the first match of the T20I series against England at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday.
Arshdeep reached this remarkable milestone in his 61st T20I appearance by taking down openers Phil Salt and Ben Duckett. Salt was dismissed by a short delivery from Arshdeep, leading to a catch by Sanju Samson in the initial over. Duckett attempted to flick the ball over midwicket, but his leading edge was caught at cover during Arshdeep’s second over.
With this feat, Arshdeep has overtaken leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal’s previous record of 96 wickets, establishing himself as India’s most successful bowler in the shortest format.
