London, Jan 24 (NationPress) Mikel Arteta has stated that the club is eager to finalize transfers to strengthen their weakened forward line, though they will avoid making hasty decisions. Reports indicate that Arsenal is interested in acquiring Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
“I have a clear perspective - we have lost two crucial players, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus, which leaves us short on goals, personnel, and options upfront. It’s evident. We are actively searching for the right player who can enhance our squad and make a significant impact,” Arteta commented.
He added, “Given the duration of their absence, it’s evident we require assistance as we were already lacking in depth, and now we are even thinner. The team has managed to cope thus far, but we must prioritize the club's best interests.”
Arteta also mentioned that it is uncertain whether Myles Lewis-Skelly and William Saliba will be available for the match against Wolves on Saturday. Myles was absent from the squad during the Gunners' 3-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb after experiencing an issue in the previous game against Aston Villa.
On the other hand, the French international is nearing a return after missing the last two matches due to a minor hamstring problem, but Mikel is uncertain about when he can reintegrate him into the lineup.
Regarding the duo, he stated, “For Myles, the scan results showed nothing serious, so we will have a discussion with the medical team today. We have a training session, and we’ll assess if it’s too soon for him.
“With Wilo, it’s a similar situation. I believe he will be ready for next week, but let’s evaluate how this week unfolds.”
