Sydney, June 13 (NationPress) The Sydney Sixers have successfully secured the services of former Pakistan captain Babar Azam for the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) 15 season, representing one of the most significant signings in the league's history.

Renowned as one of the top batsmen of the contemporary era, Babar is poised to deliver his trademark elegance, consistency, and match-winning ability to the Sydney Sixers this summer.

With more than 10,000 international runs across all formats, this stylish right-handed batsman has established himself as one of the most productive and dependable players in global cricket.

According to the regulations for BBL 15, each franchise is allowed to pre-sign one international player ahead of the Draft, which is slated for June 19. A pivotal figure in Pakistan’s national team for the past decade, Babar led his nation in all three formats from 2019 to 2024, steering Pakistan to the semi-finals of the 2021 ICC World Cup and the finals in 2022.

Known for his composed demeanor and reliability at the crease, Babar has consistently ranked among the world’s top batsmen in both ODI and T20I formats. He was honored as the ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year in both 2021 and 2022, and was named ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year in 2022.

A record-breaker in his own right, Azam holds the record for the fastest player to reach 5,000 ODI runs, accomplishing this milestone in merely 97 innings.

With extensive experience in the Pakistan Super League, Caribbean Premier League, and English domestic cricket, Azam brings a vast reservoir of T20 expertise and over 11,000 runs in the format to his new team.
