Mumbai, Nov 21 (NationPress) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that it is currently accepting applications for the role of Head - Cricket Education at its Centre of Excellence (CoE) located in Bengaluru.
This position was recently occupied by former Indian cricketer Sujith Somasunder, who is now running for the Vice President role in the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) elections under the Venkatesh Prasad-led panel.
According to a release from BCCI, this full-time role is crucial to their vision of building a top-tier cricket education system that aids coaches, athletes, state academies, and high-performance programs nationwide. The Head – Cricket Education will be responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving cricket and sports-science education at the CoE.
Applicants must be no older than 58 years, and the work term will be established per the employment offer. All applications must be received by 5 PM IST on December 8. Following an initial screening and shortlisting process, selected candidates may be called for personal interviews.
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in developing and executing cricket education programs, holding at least a Level-3 coaching certification or higher, with international playing or coaching experience being preferred.
A background in coach training, player progress reporting, and high-performance systems is essential, along with a minimum of five years’ experience working with elite athletes; prior experience in training cricket players is mandatory.
Excellent communication abilities and the capacity to collaborate with diverse groups in domestic and high-performance environments are expected, along with high integrity, discipline, people-assessment skills, and leadership capabilities.
The chosen candidate will manage all facets of coach education, accreditation, and curriculum development at the CoE, including planning, executing, and assessing all coaching courses, including Levels A, B, and C, as well as organizing nationwide refresher courses for coaches.
Additionally, the candidate should be familiar with modern performance-analysis tools like athlete-management systems, video analysis, GPS, and wearable technology to derive actionable insights. They will also collaborate with the Head of Cricket at CoE on online education initiatives and advanced coaching module development.
The selected individual will oversee the re-accreditation process for coaches and ensure comprehensive documentation of coaching content, as well as work alongside BCCI’s Umpires Panel and Head Curator for educational seminars, examinations, and specialized training.
Other responsibilities will include aiding in coach intake processes for CoE, Zonal Cricket Academies, and specialist camps, as well as evaluating suspect bowling actions referred to the CoE and providing findings to relevant committees.
