Hyderabad, Oct 3 (NationPress) The Bengaluru Torpedoes are gearing up to kick off their Season 4 journey in the Prime Volleyball League this Friday against newcomers Goa Guardians at the G.M.C. Balayogi Indoor Stadium. USA Universal player Jalen Penrose expresses confidence in the team’s readiness.
Penrose, who clinched a gold medal in the 2023 NORCECA Pan Am Final Six, is a fresh addition to the squad, which is led by captain Matt West and mentored by Olympic champion David Lee.
Regarding team dynamics, Penrose noted the rapid development of their chemistry. “The team is fantastic. It’s always a challenge when you bring players from various backgrounds together, but this group is genuinely enjoyable. We share laughs and are all eager to learn from one another, which facilitates our collective growth.”
Expressing his trust in the team, Penrose spoke of the comfort provided by familiar faces and the respect for the leadership. “One major reason I felt at ease joining was my previous experience with Matt West. Having a coach like David Lee is invaluable; his success at the highest levels provides ample learning opportunities. It’s also about exchanging experiences and learning from my teammates; it’s a mutual process.”
As the season approaches, Penrose emphasized that effort outweighs results. “Everyone desires a win, but what truly matters is giving our all every time we take the court. Sometimes we excel and lose, other times we may not perform our best and still win. However, if we commit fully as a team, success will follow.”
The Torpedoes will also rely on a talented roster of Indian players, featuring attackers Sethu TR and Joel Benjamin J, blocker Mujeeb MC, and seasoned libero Midhunkumar Balasubramaniyan.
They are placed in Pool A alongside Goa Guardians, Chennai Blitz, Kochi Blue Spikers, and Kolkata Thunderbolts.
Their last league match will be against Mumbai Meteors on October 22. The top four teams from the pools will advance to the semifinals.
