New Delhi, Sep 25 (NationPress) The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) has officially revealed the 23-member team for the upcoming Asian Youth Games 2025 in Bahrain. Training sessions commenced at the NS NIS Patiala facility on September 23 and will continue until October 20.
The selection of this team was based on their performances during the 6th U-17 Junior Boys & Girls National Boxing Championship 2025, where gold medalists received direct selection, while silver medalists were included as reserves in their respective categories.
This team features prominent athletes who excelled at the Asian U-17 Championships in July 2025, where India secured 43 medals and achieved a commendable second place overall. This success underscores India’s advancing prowess in youth boxing, giving a challenge to the established powerhouses in the sport.
The assembled squad consists of 14 members, split evenly between 7 boys and 7 girls, supported by six coaches, two physiotherapists, and a doctor, ensuring a robust support system for the athletes. Notable gold medalists in the squad include Dhruv Kharb, Udham Singh Raghav, Khushi Chand, Ahaana Sharma, and Chandrika Bhoreshi Pujari, who are honing their skills under the guidance of head coaches Vinod Kumar (Boys U-17) and Jitender Raj Singh (Girls U-17).
“Over the last few months, our young boxers have demonstrated their ability to compete with the best in Asia, bringing home impressive results on both continental and national stages. This training camp aims to build on that momentum, enhance their skills, and prepare them to be serious contenders for medals in Bahrain, highlighting the growing strength of Indian boxing,” stated Ajay Singh, president of BFI.
With a mix of emerging talents and seasoned champions, Team India is set to make a notable impact at the Asian Youth Games, striving to turn potential into podium finishes and cement its status among Asia’s elite in youth boxing.
