New Delhi, Sep 23 (NationPress) Bhagyashree Madhavrao Jadhav is poised to represent India at the 2025 World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi. The para athlete has set her sights on securing a gold medal while competing on her home turf this time.

“This venue, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, holds a historic significance for Indian athletics. Competing here is a dream come true. It’s a place where legends are born, and I’m determined to give my best in front of the home crowd. Each throw reflects the unwavering support from my family, coaches, and the nation. I aspire to convert all that faith into a medal,” shared Bhagyashree.

Her journey is nothing short of inspirational. Growing up in the serene village of Honvadaj in Nanded, Maharashtra, her life took a dramatic turn in 2006 when a catastrophic accident led to severe neurological injuries.

She battled for months on a ventilator, undergoing rigorous rehabilitation that tested her limits. With the backing of her family, she chose resilience over surrender.

Motivated by her brother and loved ones, Bhagyashree ventured into para-sports, marking a turning point in 2017 when she participated in her first competition at the Mayor’s Cup in Pune. To everyone’s astonishment, she clinched two gold medals and a bronze, transforming her despair into a powerful new motivation.

Since that moment, Bhagyashree has steadily forged an international career as a shot put athlete in the F34 classification, catering to athletes with coordination impairments affecting their lower limbs. She earned a silver medal at the 2022 Asian Para Games and represented India at both the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Paralympics. At the Paris Games, she proudly waved the Indian flag and finished fifth in the women’s shot put F34 event.

At the age of 39, her enthusiasm is even more pronounced. After achieving gold in shot put and javelin at the 2025 Khelo India Para Games, Bhagyashree is now fully committed to the 2025 World Para Athletics Championships, her most significant home-stage competition to date. She trains with fervor, enhancing her stability, release technique, and strength, using every session to better her performance.

Her odyssey, from fighting for each breath on a ventilator to competing alongside the world's elite athletes, is a testament to her unyielding determination. As she gets ready to perform in front of her local audience, Bhagyashree carries not only the ambition of winning a medal but also the aspirations of countless individuals inspired by her courage.
