The Englishwomen are set to battle the Proteas on Wednesday, aiming to secure a place in the tournament’s final.
Sky Sports Cricket released a video on their X account featuring the trio sending good luck messages to the women’s team for their upcoming contest.
“Hi girls, I just want to wish you all the best in the semifinal against South Africa. Go out and smash it,” expressed Brook.
“I want to wish you all the best of luck for the semifinal against South Africa. Congratulations on reaching this stage; you’ve performed exceptionally well. Just one more big push. Get to that final and bring it home. Come on,” Root mentioned.
“Wishing you all the best for your semifinal against South Africa. We’ll be cheering you on here in New Zealand. What a fantastic tournament you’ve had so far. Let’s hope you can go all the way,” said Curran.
In their last encounter, England Women triumphed over South Africa, winning by a convincing 10 wickets after dismissing the Laura Wolvaardt-led side for a mere 69 runs in the first innings.
While England aims for a similar performance, the Proteas will be eager to avenge their earlier defeat in the group stage, as well as their semifinal loss to the same opponents from the previous tournament.
Meanwhile, the men’s team is currently in New Zealand participating in a bilateral white-ball series. They have concluded three T20Is, winning the series 1-0, and are now engaged in a three-match ODI series, with the hosts leading 1-0 and two games still to play.
In the points table, England (11 points) finished second, ahead of South Africa (10 points) and India (7 points), with Australia (13 points) leading the group. England completed the group stage with five victories from seven matches, recording one loss and one match abandoned. South Africa also claimed five wins but suffered two losses in seven matches.
