Mumbai, May 23 (NationPress) Former Indian captain and chief selector Dilip Vengsarkar has expressed his support for either Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) or Punjab Kings (PBKS) to secure their inaugural Indian Premier League (IPL) title in the current 2025 season. Both teams have successfully qualified for the playoffs and are vying for the top two positions on the points table, with two matches remaining in the league stage.
At present, RCB is sitting in second place and will face Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants on Friday and May 27, respectively, in Lucknow.
Conversely, the Shreyas Iyer-led PBKS have reached the playoffs for the first time in 11 years. They are currently in third place and have two upcoming matches against Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians on Saturday and May 26, respectively, in Jaipur.
“Both RCB and Punjab have been striving to win the title for numerous years. I sincerely hope that one of these teams emerges victorious this IPL season - it would be a tremendous achievement for the team, franchise, and owners,” Vengsarkar remarked to IANS when queried about the potential IPL 2025 champion.
RCB captain Rajat Patidar commended the team’s bowling unit for their impressive performance in IPL 2025 thus far, expressing confidence that they can lead the franchise to its long-awaited first IPL championship.
“In T20 cricket, having seasoned bowlers who know how to handle specific situations is invaluable. Your bowling lineup can secure wins - and even the title. I believe we have prepared diligently this year and selected players tailored to our needs in specific roles. The results have been promising, and I am convinced this is our finest bowling unit yet,” Patidar stated on JioStar.
Patidar also acknowledged the positive team dynamic. “The atmosphere in the dressing room is exceptional. We engage in great team bonding activities and collaborate effectively.
