Celebrating India's 29 Paralympic Heroes on the International Day for Persons with Disabilities

Mumbai, Dec 3 (NationPress) India’s premier 29 champions from the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games were recognized at a celebration event held to commemorate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities here on Tuesday.
The recognition ceremony was hosted by the State Bank of India (SBI), the largest bank in the country, where the athletes were awarded cheques in honor of their remarkable feats that led India to its best-ever finish of 18th place at the Paralympics.
During the event, CS Setty, Chairman of SBI, stated, “India’s achievements at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games represent a pivotal point in our nation’s sports history. These athletes have transformed the perception of possibility through their unwavering determination and resilience, overcoming obstacles and motivating a nation. At SBI, we take pride in supporting these champions and remain committed to fostering talent while cultivating a more inclusive and flourishing ecosystem for Indian sports.”
In line with its dedication to inclusivity, SBI also unveiled a partnership with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) as part of its CSR initiatives for FY 2024-25. This collaboration seeks to provide assistive devices to around 9,000 Divyangjan across 20 locations throughout the country.
These efforts highlight SBI’s commitment to empowering individuals, fostering inclusivity, and promoting sports in India.
The champions honored by SBI included Harvinder Singh, Sumit Antil, Dharambir, Praveen Kumar, Navdeep Singh, Nitesh Kumar, and Avani Lekhara, all of whom earned gold medals in Paris. Silver medalists Nishad Kumar, Yogesh Kanthuniya, Sharad Kumar, Ajeet Singh, Sachin Khilari, Pranav Soorma, Thulasimathi Murugesan, Suhas Yathiraj, and Manish Narwal were also celebrated.
Additionally, the bronze medal recipients honored at the event included Sheetal Devi, Rakesh Kumar, Preethi Pal, Deepthi Jeevanji, Mariyappan Thangavelu, Sundar Singh Gurjar, Hokato Hotozhe Sema, Simran Sharma, Manisha Ramadass, Nithya Sre Sivan, Kapil Parmar, Mona Agarwal, and Rubina Francis.
