Stockholm, May 2 (NationPress) A rapid-fire double from substitute Nicolas Jackson led to Chelsea securing a commanding 4-1 triumph in the first leg of their UEFA Conference League semi-final against Djurgarden.

With two goals from Chelsea in each half, the Premier League team now holds the upper hand in the Conference League semi-final ahead of the return match in London on May 8.

Djurgarden, participating in their inaugural European semi-final, attempted to take the initiative early on, putting pressure on Chelsea's defense. The energetic Tokmac Nguen went close, curling a shot wide after receiving a lay-off from Tobias Gulliksen in the penalty area, according to Conference League reports.

However, it was Chelsea who struck first, thanks to a brilliant pass from Enzo Fernandez. Positioned on the right flank, the Argentinian international spotted Jadon Sancho making a run into the penalty area from the left wing, delivering a precise ball to the 25-year-old.

This gave Sancho the opportunity to steady himself before curling the ball beyond goalkeeper Jacob Rinne.

Rinne showcased his skills to deny Noni Madueke from doubling Chelsea's lead, diverting the striker's shot for a corner with a strong left hand after Reece James split the defense with a pass.

It was Madueke who finally converted Chelsea's dominance into a goal, deftly faking Rinne into believing he would aim for the bottom left corner before sliding the ball into the opposite side to finish a beautiful team play.

As the first half neared its conclusion, Djurgården demonstrated their potential on the counter, with a fast break led by the energetic Nguen, but Filip Jorgensen made a spectacular save to thwart the hosts' No20 after a deflection.

Jani Honkavaara's squad started the second half with vigor, as both August Priske and Hampus Finndell came close with powerful shots, while Adam Ståhl's glancing header forced Jørgensen into another acrobatic save.

However, the introduction of four substitutes for the visitors had the desired effect shortly after the break. Just before the hour mark, Cole Palmer sent a pass toward fellow substitute Nicolas Jackson, who managed to tap in from close range after intercepting Rinne’s attempt to claim the ball.

Five minutes later, Jackson struck again, skillfully shifting the ball from one foot to the other before unleashing a powerful shot into the roof of the net.

The home crowd finally had a reason to celebrate when 18-year-old substitute Isak Alemayehu Mulugeta scored a header from Gulliksen's cross, but Chelsea maintained their composure to secure a three-goal advantage heading back to London.
