Sreeker Channapragada, Co-Founder of MGD1, expressed, “Indian chess is at an exhilarating crossroads. We have a World Champion, several players exceeding 2700 Elo ratings, and a surge of young talent breaking new ground. The Quantbox Chennai Grandmasters aims to harness this momentum. By inviting top global players to compete alongside India’s brightest, we are not merely hosting a tournament; we are creating a launchpad for the forthcoming champions.”
Since its inception, the Chennai Grandmasters has been instrumental in the Indian chess landscape, notably serving as a springboard for Gukesh D, who triumphed in the inaugural edition in 2023, propelling him toward the Candidates and the World Championship match.
