Chennai, Sep 20 (NationPress) Arjun Chheda from Pune and Arjun S. Nair of Bengaluru celebrated remarkable victories in the Formula 2000 and Formula 1600 divisions, respectively, during the second round of the MMSC fmsci Indian National Car Racing Championship held at the Madras International Circuit on Saturday.
The 17-year-old Chheda enjoyed an impeccable start from pole position, claiming victory effortlessly and marking his second successive win and third overall in four starts this season. Following closely were Ethan Joy from Bengaluru and Ishaan Madesh.
Meanwhile, Nair, aged 20, secured an impressive win after pole-sitter Sai Shiva Makesh Sankaran (Pune) had to retire post Lap-1. Zahan Commissariat from Mumbai took second place ahead of Gyan S of Chennai in the eight-lap race that featured a merged grid of both categories.
Later on, Ritesh Rai from Chennai, driving a Volkswagen Polo and returning after skipping the first round in Coimbatore, achieved a dominant victory in the elite Indian Touring Cars class from pole position, overshadowing his competitors, defending champion Biren Pithawalla (N1 Racing) and former titleholder Arjun Balu (Race Concepts). Pithawalla, also in a VW Polo, secured second place after surpassing Balu, whose Honda City V-tec encountered problems in the opening lap.
Team Performance Racing, making a comeback after missing the previous round, accomplished a podium sweep in the Indian Junior Touring Cars category with Viswas Vijayaraj from Nellore finishing first, followed by Deepak Ravikumar and Hattim Shabir from Chennai. TS Diljith from Thrissur clinched victory in the Super Stock class with a comfortable win.
