London, July 2 (NationPress) Chloe Kelly has officially joined Arsenal on a permanent basis following a fruitful loan period with the club from Manchester City last season and the conclusion of her contract there this summer.
Chloe, who spent eight years with the North London team during her academy and early professional career, netted two goals and provided five assists in 13 matches after her loan began in January, culminating in a gritty performance during their Champions League final victory against Barcelona in May.
Throughout her loan at the Gunners, Chloe quickly became a fan favourite, celebrated the European success with supporters inside a bar, which sparked further discussions about her potential contract extension.
“Signing a permanent contract with Arsenal is a significant milestone for me. Learning from an exceptional manager and continuing to build bonds with a fantastic team is a journey I am eager to pursue,” Chloe expressed.
“I look forward to winning more trophies at this remarkable club and bringing more silverware back to North London to celebrate with our fans. I’ve always believed that Arsenal supporters are the best, and having them chant my name is incredibly meaningful to me,” Kelly added.
Born in London, Chloe joined the Arsenal academy at the age of 12 in 2010 and made 19 first-team appearances from 2015 to 2018, scoring nine goals.
After two loan stints at Everton, she made a permanent move to Merseyside in 2018, scoring 18 goals in 51 matches for the Toffees before joining Manchester City in 2020, where she made 109 appearances and scored 30 goals, winning the FA Cup in 2019/20 and the League Cup in 2021/22.
On the international stage, Chloe has represented England 53 times, scoring eight goals, including the decisive goal against Germany in the Euro 2022 final. She was also a key player in the Lionesses squad that reached the final of the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
Head coach Renee Slegers remarked, “I’m thrilled that we’ve secured Chloe as a permanent signing. She made a tremendous impact and played a crucial role in our achievements last season, and I know she shares our ambition to strive for more victories.”
