MJ Daffue Leads by Four Strokes at DP World PGTI Open
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Nuh, March 21 (NationPress) MJ Daffue heads into the final round of the US$300,000 DP World PGTI Open with a four-stroke lead after shooting five under par through 12 holes on Saturday at the Classic Golf & Country Club.
The South African player, who began the third round sharing the lead with Rashid Khan, maintained his stellar performance on day three, achieving six birdies and just one bogey to bring his total to 16 under par for the tournament.
His round was interrupted with six holes remaining due to a fog delay and subsequently suspended at dusk.
“I had a somewhat slow start,” Daffue remarked. “However, once I found my rhythm, I felt much more at ease and got into my routine.”
“I made some wise choices and got a fortunate break on the ninth hole. I pride myself on being a strong rebound player, so it was gratifying to recover from that bogey.”
Daffue has kicked off the 2026 Road to Mallorca with an impressive start, having secured his first HotelPlanner Tour victory at the NTT Data Pro-Am last month, and is now aiming for a second win in the fifth tournament of the season.
“My goal is to win every tournament I enter. Achieving a second victory this season would be incredibly meaningful; I aimed to perform well right from the start of the season.”
“While it's natural to think about what lies ahead, I believe if I focus on executing my best game, I have a strong chance of lifting the trophy.”
“I genuinely enjoy playing on this golf course, and with 24 holes still to go, I am determined to tackle each one.”
India's Rashid Khan concluded the day tied for second place at 14 under par, alongside Adam Wallin from Sweden, Austria's Lukas Nemecz, and Italy's Aron Zemmer. Saptak Talwar is just one stroke behind in sixth place.
Ravi Kumar and Yuvraj Sandhu, both from India, are also in the top 10, sharing ninth place at 11 under par.
Play is set to resume at 9 AM on Sunday for those still completing their third round, while the final round will kick off at 9:30 AM.
