Darcie Brown Enjoys Time to Hone Her Bowling Skills Ahead of ODI

New Delhi, Dec 20 (NationPress) As Australia gears up for their second ODI against New Zealand in Wellington, where rain is a concern, fast bowler Darcie Brown shared that it has been quite rewarding to have some time dedicated to enhancing her bowling abilities.

With Megan Schutt and Kim Garth being the top fast bowlers during Australia’s 3-0 victory over India on home soil, Darcie found herself on the bench. Additionally, she had to sit out the WBBL after six matches due to a hip injury.

“I’ve been able to do a bit of work behind the scenes … I’ve attended numerous training sessions, which I missed out on while injured, so having some time now to focus on my craft has been truly rewarding. Working with the coaches has been fantastic, and I hope it sets me up well,” she stated.

“It’s quite windy, so I’ll need to adjust to the conditions quickly … but it should be enjoyable to be out there. Mostly, I’ve been concentrating on regaining my rhythm and finding my outswing again,” Darcie mentioned, as reported by cricket.com.au.

Darcie experienced success at Wellington’s Basin Reserve during Australia’s victorious 2022 ODI World Cup, where she achieved figures of 3-22 against New Zealand. “It’ll be a wonderful chance to hopefully play again. The New Zealand team has some talented batters who can challenge quickly,” she added.

Following Thursday’s washout of the ODI series opener, New Zealand must win both remaining matches to secure crucial points in the Women’s ODI Championship and strive for their first 50-over victory over Australia since 2017.

Veteran opener Suzie Bates mentioned that her team is brimming with confidence after their Women’s T20 World Cup victory in the UAE. “We don’t just need to win one game; we have to win the series, which is quite challenging against the best team in the world.”

“This two-match series is unique, particularly in our home conditions, and I know what motivates this group – it’s to win the Rose Bowl. As a senior player, I believe looking back on this year with a World Cup win and having the Rose Bowl to celebrate during Christmas would be absolutely fantastic. I’m aware that we have some hard work ahead of us to achieve that, but it would cap off a remarkable year for our team,” she concluded.
