Vadodara, Feb 19 (NationPress) Batter Niki Prasad has taken the place of left-arm spin all-rounder Radha Yadav in the starting lineup as Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to bowl first against UP Warriorz in the sixth match of WPL 2025 at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara.

This match marks the final game at this venue for the season, compelling both DC and UPW to aim for a victory after suffering defeats in their previous matches.

Upon winning the toss, Meg Lanning stated that her choice to bowl first was influenced by the trend of teams winning when batting second. “This strategy has been effective thus far; we must make early breakthroughs against a formidable opponent,” she remarked.

“Our squad has substantial depth, and while our last performance wasn’t ideal, we are determined to come back strong today. We aim to enhance our game, and there’s a lot we can improve on, which excites us,” she added.

On the other side, UP Warriorz captain Deepti Sharma expressed her preference to bowl first as well, revealing that pace bowling all-rounder Chinelle Henry and left-arm spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad are stepping in for leg-spinner Alana King and pacer Saima Thakor. Chinelle, representing the West Indies, is making her WPL debut as an injury replacement for regular captain Alyssa Healy.

“We would have opted to bowl first too, but we need to set a competitive total to defend. With every game, we gain experience and learning, which is beneficial for women’s cricket,” she stated.
