WPL 2025: Navgire, Sehrawat, and Henry Propel UP Warriorz to 166/7

Vadodara, Feb 19 (NationPress) Kiran Navgire delivered an explosive fifty in just 24 balls, while Shweta Sehrawat added a valuable 37 runs off 33 deliveries, and Chinelle Henry lit up the innings with a quick-fire 33 not out from 15 balls, guiding UP Warriorz to a total of 166/7 against Delhi Capitals in the sixth match of WPL 2025.

On a pitch that had been used for the first two matches of the tournament, Kiran unleashed a stunning display of hitting, racking up six fours and three sixes to record the fastest fifty by a UP Warriorz player in WPL history. However, after her dismissal for 51 runs off 27 balls, Delhi Capitals struck back, taking four wickets for just 16 runs.

Solid contributions towards the end from Shweta and Chinelle, who was making her WPL debut, ensured UP Warriorz surpassed the 160-run mark, an above-average score as this match marked the conclusion of the Vadodara leg of WPL 2025 before the tournament moves to Bengaluru.

Kiran set a vigorous tone for UP Warriorz's innings, deftly maneuvering Marizanne Kapp for consecutive boundaries. Following this, she struck Shikha Pandey with back-to-back hits, both beautifully executed drives. After Vrinda Dinesh lofted Marizanne for another boundary, Kiran elevated her game further by pulling for six and later dancing down the pitch for another four and six against Jess Jonassen.

The boundaries kept coming for Kiran as she sent a full toss from Shikha over mid-off for six, while Vrinda added another four against Annabel Sutherland. However, Delhi Capitals fought back, with Vrinda falling to a cross-seam delivery from Annabel.

Despite reaching her fifty with a drive through the gap at extra cover, Kiran fell for 51 runs, attempting to pull a short ball from Annabel, only for the leading edge to be caught at long leg.

Tahlia McGrath ventured out of her crease to drive Jess on the off-side but was stumped quickly by Sarah Bryce. In the following over, Sarah showcased her quick reflexes again, stumping Deepti Sharma, leaving UP Warriorz in a precarious position at 83/4.

Grace Harris and Shweta attempted to stabilize the innings with a 36-run partnership off 32 balls, but Grace ultimately fell to a catch at mid-off off Arundhati.

Chinelle infused critical momentum into the innings, hitting Minnu Mani for a four and then launching two sixes and two fours off Shikha for a remarkable 23 runs in the 17th over.

The pair took a four each off Arundhati before UP Warriorz could only muster 16 runs in the last three overs, with both players dismissed in the final over by Marizanne.
