Doha, Dec 14 (NationPress) Giorgian de Arrascaeta showcased his brilliance by delivering two assists for Leo Pereira and Danilo, leading Flamengo to a victory over Pyramids FC and securing a spot against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final.

Just three days after triumphing over Cruz Azul to claim the FIFA Derby of the Americas, CR Flamengo added another trophy to their cabinet by defeating Pyramids FC 2-0 to win the FIFA Challenger Cup, according to FIFA reports.

This win has also ensured Flamengo's place in the final against PSG on December 17.

Flamengo began the match by prioritizing possession and sought to penetrate Pyramids' defense through a series of passes. Within the first four minutes, the red-and-black squad created their first threatening opportunity. A cross from Plata into the area prompted the goalkeeper to come out, allowing Cebolinha to seize the rebound, though the ball struck Samy. In the subsequent play, Arrascaeta shot off target.

When they lost the ball, Flamengo aggressively pushed forward, pressing high to reclaim possession. Meanwhile, Pyramids struggled to break free from their defensive zone, waiting for a chance to counter.

At the 23-minute mark, Flamengo broke the deadlock. From a free kick on the left side, Arrascaeta delivered a cross to Leo Pereira, who executed a header into the corner, leaving the goalkeeper helpless.

Following the goal, Flamengo pressed on, creating additional opportunities to widen their lead. Arrascaeta received a pass from Jorginho, skillfully dribbled past defenders, entered the area, but shot wide.

As the first half neared its conclusion, Flamengo maintained control, with only a scare in stoppage time when Mayele managed to evade Rossi, who made an exceptional save to keep the scoreline intact.

After halftime, the Egyptian side attempted to break free from their defensive stance and pushed towards the Flamengo penalty area. However, Flamengo quickly quelled their efforts by extending their lead.

Arrascaeta took another free kick into the area, which Danilo decisively headed into the corner, bringing the score to 2-0.

With a comfortable advantage, Flamengo controlled the game, consistently threatening Pyramids' defense.

In stoppage time, Pedro found himself unmarked in the box, skillfully dribbled past his marker, and aimed for goal, but El Shenawy made a crucial save.
