Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Lucknow, Dec 14 (NationPress) The newly appointed Uttar Pradesh BJP President, Pankaj Chaudhary, stated on Sunday that he intends to guide the organization by prioritizing the needs of party workers over exerting authority, emphasizing that workers are the true strength of the party.
In his address following the transition, Chaudhary expressed that the love and trust from dedicated BJP workers throughout the state had profoundly touched him.
He described his role as the BJP state President of Uttar Pradesh—India's largest state by voter count and a pivotal point in national politics—as both a source of pride and a substantial obligation, promising to honor the confidence placed in him by the party's central leadership with unwavering dedication.
Chaudhary extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and the Sangh Parivar, asserting that the BJP is a genuinely democratic party devoid of dynastic politics, casteism, or any form of domination.
"In the BJP, even a common worker can ascend to the highest ranks. This is our strongest asset," he remarked.
Reflecting on his political journey, Chaudhary shared that his determination to combat injustice led him into public service. He recounted his election as Deputy Mayor in Gorakhpur, noting that despite facing legal challenges, he pursued the case from the civil court to the Supreme Court, ultimately achieving victory after seven months—potentially the first instance of a deputy mayor winning through the judicial system.
He credited the BJP for offering him his first electoral chance at the age of 26 in Maharajganj, where he has maintained loyalty to both the party and the constituency, serving as a Member of Parliament seven times.
Chaudhary referred to his new position as a shared challenge, one that he intends to tackle collaboratively with party workers at every tier.
"For me, office, funds, programs, and workers are all essential—but workers are paramount," he emphasized.
"I will advocate for you, listen to your concerns, and address your issues. Leadership is not about issuing orders. I aim to serve, not rule," he stated.
He asserted that communication, dialogue, and coordination would shape his leadership approach, adding that it is his duty to convey the workers’ concerns to the government, while the organization must ensure that government initiatives reach the populace.
Chaudhary underscored that while office-bearers may change, a party worker is never a former worker. "The true power of the party resides with its workers," he asserted.
Commending Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Chaudhary remarked that the respect Uttar Pradesh holds today, both nationally and internationally, is attributed to his leadership. He expressed pride in representing Uttar Pradesh as Union Minister of State for Finance, whether within India or abroad.
He deemed the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls critically important and urged party workers to engage wholeheartedly in the initiative at the booth level.
Additionally, he praised his predecessor, Bhupendra Chaudhary, for elevating the organization to new heights. "It is now our collective duty to carry forward that legacy," he concluded.
