The BJP in Uttar Pradesh is concluding its organizational election process this weekend, with nominations for the state president role being submitted on Saturday and results expected to be announced the next day, Sunday.
On Sunday, the BJP will introduce its new Uttar Pradesh president, marking the end of the internal electoral process.
Chaudhary, a seven-time MP representing UP's Mahrajganj Assembly constituency, was appointed as the Union Minister of State for Finance in the second Modi Cabinet.
Before heading to Lucknow, Chaudhary addressed reporters in Delhi, stating, "All MPs have been summoned to Lucknow. I am also traveling there today for the state president election and nomination process. The party will oversee the process, and we, as party members, will adhere to the responsibilities assigned by the party."
BJP spokesperson Hero Bajpai characterized the organizational elections as a testament to the party's internal democracy.
"The Bharatiya Janata Party is a cadre-based, highly democratic organization, and its elections resemble a festival. There is a collective belief that a new president will be appointed, under whose leadership we will enhance our influence in the 2027 Assembly elections. This moment is drawing near, and millions of party workers are eagerly anticipating it," he remarked.
BJP leader Anand Dwivedi emphasized the party's electoral procedures while conversing with IANS.
"In the BJP, elections are conducted through a democratic framework. Following this, nominations will undergo verification, and subsequent steps of the election will unfold," he noted.
Prior to the nomination submissions, senior leaders from both national and state levels convened in Lucknow on Friday to finalize arrangements for the organizational elections. This meeting was led by BJP National General Secretary (Organization) B.L. Santhosh.
After the meeting, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya validated that the new state president would be revealed on Sunday.
Comparing the BJP to the Samajwadi Party, Maurya asserted that the BJP is dedicated to a transparent electoral process.
"The SP is confined to a single family; their leaders make decisions regarding office-bearers in private settings. Conversely, the BJP is a democratic party—the largest globally—and adheres to a proper electoral process. The SP has no future ahead. In their frustration, they typically resort to making unfounded statements," the Deputy Chief Minister added.
