Lucknow, Dec 13 (NationPress) The Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party is poised to finalize its organizational election process this weekend, with nominations for the role of state president set to be submitted on Saturday and results expected to be declared one day later, on Sunday.
As the nomination phase officially kicks off on Saturday, the BJP is gearing up to introduce its new Uttar Pradesh president on Sunday, marking the completion of the internal election process.
Nominations will be accepted between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. at the party's state headquarters located in Lucknow.
Union Minister of State for Finance, Pankaj Chaudhary, has already departed for Lucknow to submit his nomination for the prestigious state position.
Before leaving, Chaudhary addressed reporters in Delhi, stating, "All MPs have been summoned to Lucknow. I am also heading there today for the nomination and election process for the state president. The party will oversee the proceedings, and as dedicated party workers, we will fulfill the responsibilities assigned to us by the party."
BJP spokesperson Hero Bajpai, in a conversation with IANS, characterized the organizational elections as a testament to the party's internal democracy.
"The Bharatiya Janata Party is a cadre-based, profoundly democratic organization, and its elections resemble a festival. There is a palpable sense that a new president will soon be appointed, under whose guidance we will expand our reach in the 2027 Assembly elections. I believe that moment is imminent, and millions of party workers are eagerly anticipating it," he remarked.
BJP leader Anand Dwivedi also emphasized the party's electoral procedure while speaking to IANS.
"In the BJP, elections are conducted through a democratic framework. Afterward, nominations will undergo verification, and subsequent to the scrutiny process, the election's next phases will unfold," he explained.
Prior to the nomination filing, senior national and state party leaders convened in Lucknow on Friday to finalize arrangements for the organizational elections. This meeting was led by BJP National General Secretary (Organization) B.L. Santhosh.
After the meeting, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya confirmed that the new state president will be revealed on Sunday.
Comparing with the Samajwadi Party, Maurya asserted that the BJP remains "dedicated to a transparent process."
"The SP is confined to one family; their leaders decide on office-bearers in private. In contrast, the BJP is a democratic organization — the largest globally — and adheres to a proper election process. The SP has no future left. Out of frustration, they often make baseless statements," the Deputy Chief Minister concluded.
