New Delhi, Oct 11 (NationPress) The Archery Premier League (APL), recognized as the world's inaugural professional archery league, marked the successful conclusion of its first season with a press conference held at the Yamuna Sports Complex. India's renowned archer Deepika Kumari reflected on her experiences in the league, where she had the opportunity to compete alongside elite archers from across the globe.
The gathering brought together league stakeholders, prominent archers, and dignitaries to acknowledge the APL's pivotal role in enhancing India’s stature in global archery. Notably, Ram Charan, the APL flagbearer and actor, also attended the event.
Deepika expressed that Indian archers gained invaluable insights from their international peers regarding their training methods, work ethic, and mental approaches. She emphasized that these lessons would contribute significantly to their development and performance in the sport.
“The onset of the league was exhilarating, as it was unprecedented. We were pleasantly surprised to see international players participate; the presence of the top 20 archers worldwide was unexpected. Everyone is delighted that the league has launched with a fresh format and rules, making it enjoyable. We've certainly learned a lot about their work style, training routines, mental resilience, and their approach to challenges, whether they succeed or face setbacks. This experience will undoubtedly aid our growth,” Deepika shared with IANS.
The event featured participation from several distinguished international and Indian archers, including Katherine Bauer, a 2024 Olympic recurve competitor, Brady Ellison, one of America’s most celebrated recurve archers, Ella Gibson, the World No. 1 from Great Britain, and Mathias Fullerton, the World No. 2 from Denmark.
Prominent Indian archers such as Deepika Kumari, Dhiraj Bommadevara, compound world champion Jyothi Vennam, Asian Games medallist Abhishek Verma, and rising star Chikitha Taniparthi also showcased their skills at the event, exemplifying a rich blend of global and domestic talent.
