Faisalabad, Nov 4 (NationPress) Dewald Brevis has been excluded from South Africa’s ODI series against Pakistan due to a low-grade shoulder muscle strain that he acquired during the third T20I of the recently completed three-match series against the Men in Green at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The ODI series, consisting of three matches, is set to commence on Tuesday, with all games scheduled at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.
Cricket South Africa announced the news on their X account, stating, “Dewald Brevis has been ruled out of the three-match One-Day International series against Pakistan due to a low-grade shoulder muscle strain. He sustained this injury during the third T20 International at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Saturday.”
“Brevis will undergo rehabilitation with the Proteas Men’s medical team in Pakistan as he prepares for the upcoming Test tour of India. His replacement for the ODI series will be revealed shortly.”
Brevis had a challenging performance in the T20I series, scoring 9, 25, and 21, totaling just 55 runs across the three matches. The Proteas performed admirably only in the T20I series opener, winning by 55 runs. Although they initially led the series, the hosts recovered to win the subsequent two games, claiming the series 2-1.
In the second T20I, South Africa was bowled out cheaply for just 110 runs in 19.2 overs, allowing Pakistan to chase down the target in just 13.1 overs, winning by nine wickets. In the decisive third T20I, the visitors failed to defend a target of 140 runs, as Pakistan clinched victory by four wickets with an over to spare.
