Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Visakhapatnam, Jan 28 (NationPress) Indian seam-bowling all-rounder Shivam Dube expressed that the team is relishing their cricket while gearing up for the forthcoming Men's T20 World Cup. He emphasized that the morale within the squad is high, with everyone feeling positive.
As the mega tournament approaches, kicking off on February 7, the defending champions India have excelled in their preparations, securing an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series and are targeting a clean sweep against New Zealand.
“It's fantastic, and everyone in the team is in a great space. They are playing freely and enjoying the game. My bowling is progressing well. I am focused on executing what I've been practicing in matches, and it's working beautifully. I aim to improve my bowling and enhance my batting as well,” Dube shared with broadcasters before the fourth T20I at the ACA-VDCA Stadium on Wednesday.
Dube has showcased a leaner physique in recent matches and indicated that he has been training intensively with the World Cup in sight. “I truly appreciate that compliment. I have put in a lot of effort because I understood the World Cup is imminent, and I needed to be one step ahead. It's crucial for me and my team to be at my absolute best, and I am seeing positive results now.”
He also mentioned a range-hitting session with fellow seam-bowling all-rounder Hardik Pandya following the third T20I at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati. “It's a process we need to enhance. Range hitting can’t be mastered overnight. So, we are putting in significant effort, and post-game, we decided to focus on improving our skills together.”
When asked who managed to hit the ball the farthest, Dube replied, “Both of us are skilled. I don't wish to pick a winner. He was almost there (in the second tier) as well.”
