In an official statement released by Dhawan's office, he referred to the media reports regarding his participation in the Super60 USA Legends Tournament as "completely inaccurate and misleading".
"We have observed various articles and posts circulating on media platforms, falsely asserting that Shikhar Dhawan is involved in the upcoming Super 60 Legends USA League," the statement read.
"We wish to make it abundantly clear that Shikhar Dhawan is neither affiliated with nor participating in this league in any capacity. The reports referencing Mr. Dhawan or suggesting his involvement are entirely misleading.
"We strongly encourage all media outlets and publishers to avoid disseminating such misinformation. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring accurate reporting and in curbing the spread of unverified news," it further stated.
Previously, the tournament's organizers had mentioned that Dhawan was among four Indian players expected to take part, alongside former stars Harbhajan Singh, Suresh Raina, and Robin Uthappa.
While discussing his participation and the tournament's format, the legendary off-spinner Harbhajan Singh expressed, "I’m excited to be a part of the Super60 USA Legends Tournament.
