New Delhi, April 19 (NationPress) - The bowling coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Varun Aaron, has expressed high admiration for Eshan Malinga following his outstanding bowling display against the five-time champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He labeled Malinga as an underrated T20 bowler, emphasizing his comprehensive skill set.

In a thrilling contest, SRH managed to secure a narrow victory over CSK by 10 runs in Hyderabad, successfully defending a total of 194 runs, thanks to a collaborative bowling performance. Malinga was instrumental in this effort, achieving remarkable figures of 3 for 29 and earning the Player of the Match title for his pivotal contributions.

The Sri Lankan bowler claimed the crucial wicket of skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, which significantly hindered CSK's chase. Malinga’s knack for hitting the yorker length was evident as he dismissed both Sarfaraz Khan and Matt Short during a pivotal phase, with Short scoring 34 off 30 and Sarfaraz managing 25 off 19.

“Eshan Malinga is an incredibly underrated bowler. From the beginning of this season, he has consistently performed well. He had a strong showing last season too. His effectiveness increases, particularly in the death overs when the ball is reversing,” Aaron mentioned during an interview on JioStar.

In addition to Malinga's performance, Nitish Kumar Reddy completed his full quota of four overs in the IPL for the first time, achieving figures of 2 for 31, while Sakib Hussain and Shivang Kumar also contributed with one wicket each.

Discussing SRH's bowling strategy, Aaron stated, “When the pitch is flat, the emphasis is on execution, and the plans devised for the bowlers are fully trusted within our team. For instance, Sakib had been bowling excellent slower balls previously, but he felt that it wasn't coming out optimally in this game. Yet, he was confident in his yorker delivery.”

“We take feedback from our bowlers, have faith in their plans, and provide input when necessary. They are both very young bowlers. Dan and I maintain one central message: don’t feel undue pressure, and express yourself with conviction. On pitches like these, if you don’t bowl with confidence, even your best deliveries can get hit,” he concluded.

Eshan Malinga's performances represent the depth of talent in T20 cricket, often overlooked by fans and analysts alike. His contributions are crucial for SRH, and Varun Aaron's insights reflect a broader appreciation for players who may not always receive the spotlight they deserve.
