New Delhi, Sep 25 (NationPress) Takhellamba (20’) and Adikrishna (62’) netted goals as Farook Higher Secondary School, located in Kerala, secured the Junior Boys (U17) championship title during the 64th Subroto Cup International Football Tournament. They triumphed over Amenity Public School, CBSE, with a score of 2-0 in a thrilling match held at the Ambedkar Stadium on Thursday.
The trophy was presented to the victors by Air Chief Marshal AP Singh PVSM AVSM, the Chief of the Air Staff and Chairman of the Subroto Mukerjee Sports Education Society. He was joined by Divyansh Singh Panwar, an Olympian shooter, who served as the Guest of Honour for the final match.
During the award ceremony, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh PVSM AVSM remarked, “This year marks a significant milestone as we wrap up the 64th edition of the Subroto Cup. The tournament has consistently served as an exceptional platform for developing young football talent. We have seen the rise of numerous aspiring athletes this year, many of whom I believe will one day represent India on the global stage.”
He further congratulated not only the champions of the Junior Boys category but also the winners of the Junior Girls and Sub-Junior Boys divisions, praising the dedication of every player. “We are committed to making next year's Subroto Cup even larger and more impactful. Together, we will continue to uplift grassroots football in India,” he stated.
The champions were awarded Rs. 5,00,000, while the runners-up received Rs. 3,00,000. Semi-finalists were given Rs. 75,000 each, and quarter-finalists received Rs. 40,000 each.
A total of 75 matches took place in this category of the Subroto Cup, hosted across four venues: the Delhi - Tejas Football Ground, Ambedkar Stadium, Pinto Park Football Ground, and Subroto Park Football Ground.
Betkuchi High School from Assam claimed victory in the Junior Girls (U-17) category, defeating Nandajhar Adibashi Pashili High School from West Bengal. Meanwhile, Minerva Public School, CISCE, emerged as champions in the Sub-Junior Boys (U-15) category, beating Vidyachal International School, Muzaffarpur, Bihar, in the finals held in Bengaluru.
