Former NRL Executive Todd Greenberg Takes Helm as New CEO of Cricket Australia

Melbourne, Dec 3 (NationPress) Todd Greenberg has been appointed as the new chief executive of Cricket Australia. He will take over from the current CEO Nick Hockley, who announced in August his decision to vacate the role at the conclusion of the domestic summer in March.
Cricket Australia stated in a release, "Greenberg will bring extensive experience to this role from his various positions within the sports industry, including his tenure as CEO of the National Rugby League and the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, as well as his role as General Manager of Stadium Australia, and most recently as CEO of the Australian Cricketers’ Association."
The former CEO of the National Rugby League and current head of the Australian Cricketers' Association will officially begin his tenure in March.
Greenberg will become the 15th individual to serve as either secretary or chief executive of the governing body for cricket in Australia since its establishment in March 1892 as the Australasian Cricket Council.
With a solid background in cricket, Greenberg played First Grade for Randwick in NSW Premier Cricket. He participated in 10 seasons for Randwick CC in Sydney from 1987 to 1997 as a top-order batter.
The 53-year-old has a rich history with Cricket NSW before he transitioned to the chief executive role with the Canterbury Bulldogs. In 2016, he became the chief executive of the NRL, a position he held for four years. After departing from the NRL, he assumed his current role as head of the Australian Cricketers' Association.
"I am thankful for the opportunity to take on this critically important role in Australian sport and to deepen my engagement with a game I have cherished since childhood. This is a thrilling time for cricket as the game is experiencing rapid global growth, presenting both exciting opportunities and challenges to maintain Australian cricket's elite status," Greenberg stated.
“Thanks to the efforts of the current administration, the game has strong foundations in place. I aim to build on this momentum to ensure Australian cricket continues to flourish—from local parks to the largest stadiums nationwide," Greenberg added.
Mike Baird, Chair of CA, remarked, "Todd will bring vast experience to the role from his leadership of the National Rugby League and his current position as CEO of the Australian Cricketers’ Association, along with his background in club and stadium management.
"He is also known for driving commercial growth and innovation, including bringing the State of Origin to Melbourne and launching the NRLW. We are entering a period of tremendous opportunity, and the recruitment panel and CA Board were deeply impressed by Todd’s passion for cricket and his vision to build on past achievements and foster the game's growth," he added.
"I would like to express my gratitude to Nick Hockley, who will leave the sport in a robust position at the end of the season, with key foundations including our broadcast rights deal, MOU, and a seven-year content strategy established," he concluded.
