Friedkin Group Finalizes Everton Acquisition Following Premier League Approval

London, Dec 19 (NationPress) On Thursday, the Friedkin Group finalized its acquisition of the Premier League team Everton, putting an end to Farhad Moshiri's ownership and years of uncertainty regarding the club's future. This transaction, believed to be valued at over 400 million pounds (approx. 502 million U.S. dollars), marks Everton as the 10th Premier League club under American ownership. The takeover comes just ahead of the club's relocation to the new 60,000 capacity 'Everton Stadium' for the 2025-2026 season.

The Friedkin Group, led by Dan Friedkin, who has a personal fortune nearing eight billion U.S. dollars, is also the owner of the renowned Italian club AS Roma.

In an open letter addressed to Everton fans, the new owner expressed, 'I take immense pride in welcoming one of England's most historic football clubs to our global family, the Friedkin Group. Everton represents a proud legacy, and we are honoured to become custodians of this great institution.'

He continued, 'While we are new to the club, we fully understand the crucial role Everton plays in local culture, history, and the lives of Evertonians both here and worldwide.' 'We are deeply committed to honoring this legacy while positively contributing to the community, economy, and people of this remarkable city.'

Everton's inaugural match following the takeover will be a challenging home game against Chelsea on Sunday lunchtime.

Earlier last week, Everton showcased an impressive defensive performance, securing a point against Arsenal, despite the Gunners registering 13 shots compared to Everton's single attempt, unable to breach a robust defense and a stellar display by Jordan Pickford.
