David Moyes Takes Charge as Everton Head Coach with Two-and-a-Half Year Contract
Liverpool, Jan 11 (NationPress) Everton has confirmed the hiring of David Moyes as their head coach on a two-and-a-half year deal following the dismissal of Sean Dyche earlier this week.

Liverpool, Jan 11 (NationPress) Everton has officially announced the hiring of David Moyes as the head coach for a two-and-a-half year contract after parting ways with Sean Dyche earlier this week.

The team currently finds itself in 16th place, just one point above the relegation zone, having managed to win only three out of their first 19 matches in the Premier League.

Moyes is well-acquainted with Goodison Park, having steered Everton for more than 500 matches from 2002 to 2013. In March 2002, Moyes took over from Walter Smith and over the course of the next 11 years, he established Everton as a consistent top-half team. The 2004/05 season saw them finish in fourth place, achieving Champions League qualification.

His 518-game tenure at Everton stands as one of the longest managerial stints in contemporary football.

In 2013, the Scotsman was chosen by Sir Alex Ferguson to succeed him at Manchester United. However, his time there lasted only 10 months as he struggled to deliver results and performances at Old Trafford.

“It’s fantastic to be back! I had 11 wonderful and successful years at Everton and I didn’t think twice when I was given the chance to return to this remarkable club,” said Moyes.

“I’m thrilled to be collaborating with The Friedkin Group and I look forward to assisting in the club's rebuilding efforts.

“Now we need Goodison and all Evertonians to rally behind the players during this crucial season so we can transition into our stunning new stadium as a Premier League team,” Moyes expressed.

As a key figure behind Everton's journey to the 2009 FA Cup Final and four European campaigns, he has also managed Manchester United and West Ham United, where he notably clinched the UEFA Europa Conference League.

“We are delighted that David is joining us at this critical juncture in Everton’s history. With over a decade of experience at the club, he is the right leader to guide us through our final season at Goodison Park and transition into our new stadium. We look forward to collaborating with David to lay the groundwork for a new chapter for Everton,” stated Executive Chairman Marc Watts.

Moyes’ 697 Premier League matches as a manager are only surpassed by Arsene Wenger (828) and Sir Alex Ferguson (810).
