Dubai, March 12 (NationPress) India’s outstanding opener Shubman Gill has been awarded the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for February 2025. The 25-year-old excelled beyond Australia's Steve Smith and New Zealand's Glenn Phillips to secure this prestigious accolade.

This marks the third time Gill has received the ICC Men’s Player of the Month title, having previously won it twice in 2023, specifically in January and September.

“I am thrilled to be named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for February. There is no greater motivation for me than performing well with the bat and helping my country secure victories,” Gill stated.

“As we approached the Champions Trophy 2025, the timing was critical, and I’m pleased to have seized the opportunity. This year has started exceptionally well for me and our team. I eagerly anticipate a year filled with exciting cricket and hope to contribute to numerous wins for India.”

Throughout February, Gill accumulated 406 runs across just five ODIs, boasting an impressive average of 101.50 and a strike rate of 94.19. He notably excelled during the 3-0 series victory against England, achieving three successive scores exceeding fifty.

The right-handed batsman commenced with a stylish 87 in Nagpur, followed by a steady 60 in Cuttack, and concluded with a magnificent 112 off 102 balls in Ahmedabad. This performance earned him both the Player of the Match and Player of the Series titles.

Continuing his remarkable form into the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Gill scored an unbeaten 101 to spearhead India’s chase in their opening match against Bangladesh in Dubai. He also contributed a determined 46 against Pakistan.

Gill played a crucial role in India securing their third Champions Trophy title, culminating in a thrilling four-wicket win over New Zealand at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. This was his first ICC title after missing the chance to gain firsthand experience with the trophy during last year's T20 World Cup in Barbados.
