New Delhi, Aug 13 (NationPress) Everton has officially confirmed the signing of Jack Grealish on a season-long loan from Manchester City. The talented player disclosed that his choice of the number 18 shirt was inspired by legendary English players Wayne Rooney and Paul Gascoigne.
Grealish becomes David Moyes’ sixth summer acquisition, arriving on Merseyside with an impressive trophy collection that includes three Premier League titles, two FA Cups, the Champions League, and the Club World Cup. He joins a prestigious list of former Toffees who have worn the 18 jersey, such as Rooney, Gascoigne, Phil Neville, Gareth Barry, and Ashley Young.
"I chose number 18 for a reason. There were various options, but my all-time favorite English players are Wayne Rooney and Paul Gascoigne, both of whom wore 18 here. As soon as I learned this deal was nearing completion, I noticed number 18 was available, making it the ideal choice for me. It was the only number I considered. I even spoke to Wayne [Rooney] about it before arriving and shared my thoughts on the 18 jersey with him—hopefully, he’s pleased too,” Grealish shared with Evertontv.
Having enjoyed a successful tenure at Manchester City, where he lifted three Premier League titles, two FA Cups, the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the Club World Cup, Grealish is now the sixth signing of the summer transfer window for Moyes, joining new signings Charly Alcaraz, Thierno Barry, Mark Travers, Adam Aznou, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
In addition to his illustrious club career, Grealish has also represented England 39 times and was part of the Three Lions squad, alongside Blues goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, that finished as runners-up at the delayed Euro 2020.
